Visual Identity

Working closely with you our first step is to identify your key points of differentiation and then articulate a clear purpose for your organisation. This approach recognises that the Visual Identity (VI) goes well beyond the logo.

The VI is always made up of the brand story, a guideline and brand assets such as photography, colour palette and typography, but it could also comprise a tone of voice and copy style too.

To assist smaller organisations, we have developed a zero to hero approach – perhaps you have not invested in your brand for some time – we love to start with nothing other than a business that has a good reputation and is keen to tell the world! That way we can take you on a brand journey with a destination that is fit for purpose today – taking consideration of your competitor set and customer insights on the way. The Edwards Engineering case study below is a great example of this approach.

Corporate website

Very often the first manifestation of a brand refresh is a new web presence, one that captures the VI and your latest case studies and thinking. We would typically use an open source CMS called Modx to build your site but would plan its scope with live wireframing tools so that you can get a good feel for how it will work, well before it goes live.

Our core skills for web design lie with front end development but we do have experience of integrating for example a CRM and modest back end bespoke coding too. Once live, we are very happy to train your team on content updating and the various site optimisation tools available to ensure your shiny new site is being seen and read.

Literature

Once the VI and website are resolved we find our clients will then feel more confident to get out there and find new prospects. In a face to face sales meeting, nothing beats a well-executed sales presenter, or to support the marketing effort more generally an engaging corporate brochure.

Our reporting print and production skills come to the fore here in working out the best way to tell your story, bring it to life and then deliver a memorable read. We work with experienced copywriters, illustrators and photographers to help with this process.

Marketing support

Thunderbolt Projects can also offer end to end marketing support to your organisation. You can think of us as an extension of your own team via a retainer relationship or use us for specific project work – either way we have the experience to make your communication requirements happen effectively.

Our key marketing support experience includes print management, Search Engine Optimisation, customer experience score integration, website support, photography planning and marketing asset management (e.g. photo library creation).

Edwards Engineering

Updating an established and highly respected engineering brand

Edwards Engineering, based in Perth, have over 45 years of experience in bespoke mechanical, electrical and structural engineering projects. Their customers can be found all over the UK in sectors including Food and Drink, Manufacturing and Agriculture.

Following a recent acquisition by investment group Cartalex, Thunderbolt Projects were asked to re-think the Visual Identity of the company and then develop an enhanced online presence to showcase their expertise and capabilities to customers and prospects.

Our response involved time spent with the new management team to agree a communication strategy. This work laid the foundation for the creative brief and subsequent marque development, primary applications and design guidelines.

Since website live, we have worked with Edwards to further embed the new Visual Identity via various applications and online development too.
